The centre produces diverse research with several main areas emerging based on staff and student passions. Staff and students are loosely clustered around these focal areas, which include Co-Design, Digital Participation, Educational Technology, Health, Service Delivery and Rural Networking and Cloudlets. A number of research or reading groups take forward the intellectual work of the Centre in each area. The relatively informal groupings allow staff and students to meet regularly to engage in discussion of their work and to explore key issues and core readings in the area.
A key feature of the centre has been the monthly seminars where all centre members come together around issues of ICT4D. This entails having a guest speaker or a talk from any of the centre members on their research projects. To further foster interdisciplinary discussion and collaboration, the centre embraces smaller research groups (based on the centre focal areas) who meet on a weekly or biweekly bases.
